The 7th/8th great team won big on Friday night at US Airways Arena, beating the 1st place team from the east side. This is the same team that won at US Airways last season as a 5th/6th grade team. Moving up to another division and being one of the younger teams in the division with mostly 7th graders and winning like we did is very impressive for these kids. They had to over come some adversity during the regular season losing two games in a row but they were able to beat the teams they lost in the regular season in the playoffs, one of which was in the semi finals on an exciting buzzer beater shot to win the game! Jump Athletic has a tremendous core group of younger kids that we are looking forward to seeing develop on and off the court. Seeing these kids develop and mature is what makes my job so enjoyable.

The tournament in Flagstaff was a great opportunity to get out of the heat and for the team to keep playing basketball. It was an opportunity for me to get to know these kids more and for the team to bond as a unit which is crucial in team sports. Coming in 1st place is always nice. They lost focus in one of the games but were able to redeem themselves in the final against the team they lost to. Redemption is always solid in sports. The development of our teams is very important to Jump Athletic. Not the winning aspect but more so the development of these kids and preparing them for real life experience.
